Archaeology at FoxDogThe Back Story
Rikke, one of the owners of FoxDog, is also an archaeologist. She strugged with finishing her studies while founding and improving the farm and finally had to give up on the farm for a few years and concentrate on finishing her degree. She finished in Summer of 2008, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a PhD in Anthropology (in the United States, Archaeology is usually part of the Anthropology deparment).
Her speciality is military Archaeology, specifically Roman military Archaeology. But she's studied New World historical archaeology, Old World pre-historic archaeology, Classics, Latin and the basics in Anthropology.
Hopefully soon this page and pages leading from it will contain some of the things she discovered in writing her PhD, as well as explorations of the Roman world, the anthropology of armies and more.
